Watermelon Idol singing contest accepting contestants for August 13 show

PRESS RELEASE

HOPE, AR – July 26, 2022

Sign up now for Watermelon Idol, the premiere singing contest in the Ark-La-Tex region, hosted by the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Enrollment Management Office. Watermelon Idol will be held live at the Hope Watermelon Festival at Hope Fair Park. The contest is limited to 20 entries that will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The grand prize winner will have the opportunity to open for Uncle Kracker at the Hope Watermelon Festival Concert.

The contest will be held on Saturday, August 13, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the Cricket Wireless Stage at Hope Fair Park.

Prizes:

3rd place - $50 & Trophy

2nd place - $150 & Trophy

1st place - $300, Trophy, & opens for Uncle Kracker

*The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce provides trophies and cash prizes.

Official Rules:

1.)                No professional singers are allowed to enter the competition.

2.)                No previous winners are allowed to enter the competition.

3.)                There are no separate categories for individual and group acts or age.

4.)                No arguing with or harassing the judges will be tolerated.

5.)                If you are late for your time slot, you will be disqualified.

6.)                Contestants must provide their own instruments and/or soundtracks.
