Watermelon Olympics, women's soccer cancelled according to announcement by Hope Parks Department
At around 1:15 p.m.Thursday the Hope Parks and Recreation Department made the difficult call to cancel this year's Watermelon Olympics, which were scheduled to take place at the 48th Annual Watermelon Festival starting Thursday evening. Later in the afternoon, the women's soccer tournament was also cancelled.

On the department's facebook page was posted the message. "We hate to do this, unfortunately we have to cancel the Watermelon Olympics scheduled for tonight due to not enough participation.  Come on out still and enjoy other events at the festival!"

Update: At just before 2:00 p.m., women's soccer was cancelled as well.
