At approximately 3:30 pm this afternoon, Hope/Hempstead County dispatch received a call in reference to an accident at the intersection of North Hazel & the I-30 Westbound on ramp.
Upon Arrival, Corporal Daniel Stuart of the Hope Police Department observed a 2004 Ford Mustang upside down in the ditch on the Northeast side of of the intersection. The driver of the Mustang was trapped inside of the vehicle so Pafford EMS was dispatched to the scene but officers were able to extract the driver prior to Pafford EMS's arrival.
Preliminary reports indicate the Mustang was traveling North on Hazel Street, when a vehicle exiting the I-30 exit ramp failed to stop at the intersection. In an attempt to keep clear of the oncoming vehicle, the driver of the Ford Mustang swerved to avoid a collision, the driver to overcorrected, thus causing the Mustang to flip into the ditch.
The other vehicle was not at the scene upon officers arrival. The driver of the Mustang was not transported to any medical facility. No injuries have been reported at this time.
