Arkansas State Senator Linda Poindexter Chesterfield, D-LR, center, keynoted a welcoming reception Aug. 15 sponsored by the Yerger Alumni Association for newly installed education leaders Dr. Chrstine Holt, left, University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor, and Dr. Jonathan Crossley, right, Hope Public Schools Superintendent. Senator Chesterfield offered a challenge to the room and the educators based upon the opportunities afforded students through the unified efforts of UAHT and the HPS. Dr. Holt remembered the importance of traditions in recognizing how both institutions and the community should move forward, and Dr. Crossley offered a vision of education in Hope “for a time such as this” where all HPS students can excel. The reception at Hempstead Hall on the UAH campus included other remarks by Yerger Alumni Association President Ala Mae Flenory, Hope Mayor Don Still, HPS Board of Education President Linda Haynes, UAHT Board of Visitors Chairman Freddie Smith, Rev. Phil McLarty, Hempstead County Ministerial Allianceand State Representative Danny Watson, R-Hope. HPS Board Zone 3 Representative Margaret Moss moderated the event for the Yerger Alumni Association– Ken McLemore/Hope Public School
