WELCOME TO ADVENT AT THE 1ST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH!
"The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight."  A line from the familiar Christmas Carol "O Little Town of Bethlehem" says a lot about the first Sunday in Advent which celebrates the Hope we find in the Christ Child.  Advent: the four weeks before Christmas when many Christians look forward to and anticipate the coming of the newborn King, Jesus Christ.  On the first Sunday we focus on Hope, the 2nd Sunday, Peace, then Joy, and finally Love.

There is no doubt that Hope is something we need during the trying times in which we live.  All you have to do is read the newspaper or listen to the news and what you will find is more bad news than good.

Where can we find hope for the future during these difficult days?  Only one place that I can find.  We can find real hope in the Christ Child, the newborn King, who came to bring us not only Hope, but Peace, and Joy and Love.  We need to focus on the Hope He brings as we look forward to His coming.  My prayer for you during this Advent Season is that you will be filled with Hope.
