"Without a strategic plan to govern moving forward to get our country back on track, it won't matter who the Speaker is. The U.S. House of Representatives is at a serious inflection point, and our actions this week will have massive implications for the future of our nation. Inflation is crippling hardworking Americans, thousands of pounds of fentanyl and millions of illegal immigrants are flowing over our southern border, and one of our closes allies needs our support as they face a historically gruesome war. The reality is that regardless of who the Speaker is, without 218 Republican votes, there's very little that we can do. 

"For the sake of our country, no matter how challenging, we must stay unified. If we don't, the situation we are in could result in a shift of power to the Democrats in the form of a coalition government, debilitating Republicans’ modest ability to direct our nation toward fiscal sanity. 

"My message is simple: we need a plan more than a person. I'm committed to working with my colleagues to realistically assess where we are, and developing a strategic plan to get our country back on the right track. I've had conversations with many other members about a plan that would set forth an agreed upon approach to the major decisions facing us, one that would give the Speaker a roadmap to follow and provide a basis for accountability moving forward. Once we unify behind a plan, we can unify behind the best person to execute it."
