By Otis Kirk

FAYETTEVILLE -- Former Bryant standout right-handed pitcher Will McEntire has announced he will return for a sixth season with the Razorbacks.

McEntire announced his decision on social media.

“Not done being a Hog,” McEntire posted on X.

McEntire  is 16-5 and has appeared in 65 career games. In 2024, McEntire was 5-0 with a 4.83 ERA in a team-high 30 appearances covering 54 innings.

McEntire was a freshman in 2020 during the abbreviated COVID season. He redshirted in 2021 and then has been a steady hand for Dave Van Horn both starting and out of the bullpen the past three seasons.

He has started 20 of the 65 games he has appeared in and has struck out 204 batters while walking 70 in 197.2 innings.

Arkansas is expected to lose its weekend starting pitching rotation of Hagen Smith, Brady Tygart and Mason Molina to the 2024 MLB Draft, which begins Sunday night at 6 p.m.

The Razorbacks are likely to move closer Gabe Gaeckle into a starting role next season and have added transfer portal starters in Zach Root (East Carolina) and Landon Beidelshies (Ohio State). Former Batesville standout righty Gage Wood moved into a starting role late in season. He can help as a starter or out of the bullpen in 2025.
