Hot Springs- Pierce Yates tossed a complete game gem Friday in Hot Springs against the Beavers of Glen Rose. Yates silenced the opposing student section recording his 12th strikeout to close out the game. Spencer Hubbard caught a great game and Yates’ fastball had great life today and his off-speed kept the opposing batters off balance as he scattered just 3 hits and 2 runs while getting a dozen K’s. Offensively the Wolves did not get on the board until Carston Poole blasted an RBI triple to right-center to even the game at 1-1 heading into the 6th. The offense woke up a bit more in the 6th inning as Branen Bradley was hit by a pitch, who would work his way around the bases to score on a sacrifice fly by Caden Dice to give Prescott the lead 2-1. A very important insurance run was added on by a 2-out RBI single from Marketric Mixon to extend the lead to 3-1 headed into the final inning. The Beavers would score a run in the 7th inning, but Yates would close the door striking out the final batter to sew up the win for the Curley Wolves. Carston Poole led Prescott with a triple and a single. Branen Bradley reached base in all 3 plate appearances including a single. Spencer Hubbard and Marketric Mixon each had singles for Prescott. It was a great team win, the defense played very well, and the Wolves advance to the Conference Tournament Semi-Finals to face Genoa scheduled for Saturday at 2PM in Benton. The win for Prescott also earned themselves a spot in the Regional Tourney held next week in Genoa. Times TBA.
