Beads, Bags and Bangles Aces the Back Nine PAR-TEE

BBB brought their A-game to the green last night with their annual gala to benefit the U of A Hope-Texarkana Kids’ College. Their aptly named “Back Nine Par-Tee”, held at the Hope Country Club, featured an array of “golf-themed” eats and drinks, including Arnold Palmers, a tea and lemonade beverage named for the legendary golf champion.

Attendees, dressed in their knickerbockers and golf attire, were able to mingle with friends while enjoying live music from Hope’s very own, South Down Main, and showing off their skills on the miniature golf courses set up throughout the venue. Guests were also able to bid on silent auction items donated by friends of the college and check out merchandise from local vendors.

As the night came to a close, winners for raffle items were announced. Allison Wilson and Aley Mendoza were the lucky winners of Louis Vuitton Purses, donated by Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home, and Beth Jones won a John Hardy Naga Legends Bracelet, donated by Alexander’s Jewlers.

Beginning in 2006 as just a small gathering at a committee members home, BBB has quickly grown into one of the biggest, most anticipated events of the year. Over the last 14 years, the benefit has raised $397,000 and touched the lives of 3,986 children in the form of scholarships and supplies for UAHT Kids’ College and the Camp Save-A-life program.

These programs, designed for students who will be in first through eighth grades, are held each summer at the UAHT campus. The 2019 sessions served approximately 160 students from Hope, Texarkana and surrounding communities, and are created to expand knowledge, spark imagination and creativity, and cultivate new interests for personal growth and development.
