On October 8, 2019, the Spring Hill boys golf team competed in the 2A state tournament in Cabot, Arkansas. The four-man team of Colby Light, Dawson Calhoun, Brady Whatley, and Colin Purifoy finished sixth out of the ten teams competing with a team score of 314.
Colby Light finished the 18th hole tied for second place with Taylor Melton from Poyen High School. In order to determine who would take the position of medalist runner-up, a play-off had to be held. Colby won the hole to become medalist runner-up with a final score of 88. When asked what he will miss most about high school golf, Colby said, “I’m gonna miss playing with my buddies and cracking jokes all the time.”
Colby will compete in the AR Overall State competition, which features the top medalist and medalist runner-up from each district on October 17 in Pleasant Valley, AR.
