He graduated in 1970 from Ellis High School in Stamps Arkansas. He participated in basketball and track. After graduating high school, he attended Red River Vocational School in Hope Arkansas. He was drafted a year later by the US Army. He served our country for 2 years. When he returned home, he met the love of his life Sherry Brown in 1982. Deacon Godbolt worked at Deltic, Cherokee Carpet Mill, Georgia Pacific, and Falcon Products.
He later decided to use his military background and work for the Hempstead County Police Department where he was the Captain of the County Detention Center for the past 20 years.
The marriage to Sherry lasted of 36 ½ years, and led to the birth of two sons Jonathan, and Cory Godbolt.
Deacon Godbolt loved the Lord and was faithful to his church family. He served on the deacon board for over 30 years at New Hope Baptist Church in Falcon Arkansas. He sung in the choir, was church treasurer, was an usher, and the Superintendent of Sunday School.
Deacon Godbolt leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Sherry Godbolt-Buckner, sons: Jonathan Godbolt (Britney)-Rosston and Cory Godbolt (Erica)-Batesville, his parents: Eddie B. and Beatrice Godbolt, brothers: Ivory Godbolt Sr. (Shelia)-Buckner, Ricky Godbolt (Barbara)-Maryland, sister: Kathy Dixon (Ollie)-Rosston, one brother in law: Michael Brown (Gina)-Falcon, one sister in law: Sybil Brown-Falcon, two grandchildren Jailyn A. Godbolt, and Kyness J. Godbolt, 5 nieces, 6 nephews, and 8 great nieces, and 3 great nephews, and a host of cousins, aunts,
uncles, friends, coworkers, and church members that loved him dearly.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday February 16th, at 11:00 am at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, AR. With burial to follow with military and police honors at New Hope Cemetery in Falcon, AR, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home LLC of Magnolia, AR.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 15th from 12 noon-4:30 pm at the funeral home.
