Christmas Cheer in the Air at Hope Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

There was no snow but it was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in southwest Arkansas during the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Hope Monday night.

Families lined Main St. to see the floats, hear some Christmas music and see Ole Saint Nick, who brought up the end of the parade on board a firetruck from Hope Fire Department.

The parade’s original route was set to turn off Main St. onto 2nd and then Elm but the concentration of people lining Main caused the course to be altered.

Judges were on hand to pick winners a few few different categories including Best Use of Lights, Best Use of Theme and Best in Show.

Winners:

Best Use of Lights: Bank OZK

Best Use of Theme: Cub Scouts

Best in Show: Yerger Middle School

Following the Christmas Parade, Santa made a stop to pose for pictures for some excited children and to participate in the Christmas Tree Lighting at the Hope Depot. Vice Mayor Don Still served as MC for the lighting.

Santa then went to the Christmas Nook set up at Tailgaters to meet with local children who were lined up down the street to tell him their Christmas wishes and let their parents get pictures of them on Saint Nick’s knee.
