City of Hope Begins it’s 2019 Street Program
This past week the City of Hope begin its 2019 street program. It will consist of laying over 3,276 tons of asphalt & milling 7,733 square yards.
Milling will be conducted on Greening Street between Beech & Hickory Streets and Hickory between Bell & Hazel Streets .
Overlay will be conducted on six streets:
Greenwood Street: Hazel Street to Main Street
Berry Street: Hazel Street to Walker Street
Greening Street: Beech to Hickory Street
Hickory Street: Bell Street to Hazel Street
Beech Street: Walker Street to Beets Street
Avenue E Street: McRae Street to Pritchard Street
The Street Department will also be ditching / cleaning out ditches in various locations in the Northwest & Northeast areas of the city. It will consist of approximately 18,025 Linear feet of soil removal. City Manager Catherine Cook has said the project should be finished by the second week of August. Each year the street committee decides which street needs the most immediate needs, repairs or resurfacing. They then give their recommendations to the City Board to be approved.
