Two members of Prescott High School’s stellar 2018 football program have been selected for All-Star honors, the school announced Wednesday.
Senior Curley Wolves Cameron Cox, known for his clutch play at wide receiver, and Kobe Gillard, a D1 lineman prospect, were both selected for the 64th annual Arkansas Army National Guard AHSCA All-Star Football game hosted at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
Cox is a 6’1″ senior, weighing in at 190 lbs., and he was credited with 52 receptions and 972 yards over the course of the 2018 campaign. His per catch average was 18.7 yards, and he scored seven touchdowns.
Gillard played both defensive tackle and offensive guard for the Curley Wolves in 2018. He is 6’1″ and was listed at 325 lbs. Last summer in Little Rock, Gillard was named to the All Arkansas Football Second Offense Team for 2017-18 season.
Cox and Gillard follow the footsteps of such notable Curley Wolves as Thomas Muldrew, Kadarius Pearson, Jay Marks, Chris Cowling and Tyler Rucker, who were selected for the prestigious game in recent years. Prescott High School football coach Tommy Poole had also coached the all-star event in 2017.
Cox and Gillard were both were major parts of the Curley Wolves football team’s success during the 2018 season, which saw them go 12-2, including another 6-1 record in conference, and reach the 2018 Class 3A state semifinals. Prescott lost to the eventual state champion Booneville Bearcats in the final minutes of a 34-31 thriller.
In the title game, Cox had three receptions for 88 yards, while Gillard on defense, was credited with two solo tackles and six assists.
