Dennis Earl Wood was born in Glendale, California on December 10, 1948 to Agatha and Tilmon Wood. He passed away June 29, 2019 at 70 years old.
The family moved back to Hope when Dennis was three years old. He graduated from Hope High School on 1966. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with a degree in Speech and Public Relations in May of 1971. He went to work for K-Mart as a manager trainee immediately after graduation. He later worked for a construction company, was self-employed for a while and worked from Honda. He retired five years ago.
His daughters and granddaughters remember him as a loving and supportive dad and grandfather, who was always the life of the party. He cheered for the Hogs and enjoyed high school football, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death his oldest daughter, Kimberly Wood in 1991 and his dad, TilmonWood in 2005.
Dennis is survived by two daughters, Monica Wood of Greenbriar, AR and Kelly Clark (Bradley) from Maumelle, AR; three granddaughters, Natalie, Hannah and Reagan; mother, Agatha Wood; his brother, Scott Wood (Julia); two nieces, two nephew and four great nieces.
The family extends a special thanks to Willie Waller (friend of 67 years); Bobby Davis (faithful friend to visit); Don and Leona Kauffman(friend and deacon); Allison Pogue (niece and caregiver); the staff of Elite Home Health and Hospice of Texarkana; the doctors and nurses of the Oncology Department at U.A.M.S.; and Kay Lockard, a cousin who accompanied us many times on the long trip to U.A.M.S.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas.
Funeral Service will be 10:00am Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Marlbrook Cemetery in Blevins with Bro. Jay Pollan officiating under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
