Doris Jean Jones Banks

Mrs. Doris Jean Jones Banks was born January 14, 1945 in Ozan, Arkansas to the late Irnese Staggers and L.C. Harris. She exchanged her cross for her crown on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville, AR.
She joined St. Luke C.M.E Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health failed.
She graduated from Childress High School in 1963 and did one semester of college at AM&N in Pine Bluff, AR.
She eventually moved to Chicago, IL, where she met and married Charles Jones. To this union, two children were born.
During the course of her life, Doris held down several jobs to make sure her family was taken care of. She was a substitute teacher for the Chicago School District and a member of the Parent Teacher Association. In 1985, she moved back to Arkansas to be near her family. She worked for Tyson Foods from 1985 until she retired in 2011.
Doris met and married the love of her life, William Banks, Jr. They were happy in love for 32 years.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Rochelle Jones; brother, Willie Harris; two stepbrothers, Roy Beasley and Bennie Bradford; and a brother-in-law, Freddie Banks.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, William Banks, Jr. of Nashville, AR; her daughters, Sonya (Manning) Walton of Nashville, AR, Sanita (Raphael) Motley of Fort Walton Beach, FL; stepdaughter, Deneen Banks of Minneapolis, MN; stepson, Terrence Erby of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Sa’Konia (Willie) Savage of Prescott, AR, Cliffalvion Bradley of Charlotte, NC and Jerrod Jones of Nashville, AR; one step-granddaughter, Denequa Rodriguez of Minneapolis, MN; one adopted granddaughter, Shaglista Ware of Texarkana, TX; one sister, Mary (Bennie) Fields of Texarkana, AR; one stepsister, Sharetta Watson of Texarkana, AR; three stepbrothers, David Bradford, Mike Bradford and James Bradford all of Texarkana, AR; four sisters-in-law, Eadie (Reggie) Northington of Chicago, IL, Viola Beechum of Mesa, AZ, Denise Banks and Loraine Banks of Gary, IN; four brothers-in-law, Robert (Ida) Jones and Bill (Joyce) Jones both of Chicago, IL, Robert Banks of Rochester, WI and Shepard Banks of Gary, IN; stepmother, Mary Bradford of Texarkana, AR; one aunt, Mamie Staggers of Ozan, AR; step aunt, Rosie Arnold of Texarkana, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 3pm Saturday, April 13, 2019 at St. Luke CME Church, Ozan. Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery in Ozan. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
