Due to illnesses, Prescott schools to close rest of week
By Rick Kennedy, managing editor
The Prescott School District announced Wednesday afternoon that it will cancel classes the rest of the week (Thursday, Feb. 7 and Friday, Feb. 8) due to “increasing numbers of student illnesses.” SWARK Today called the Prescott district office to confirm the information, which appears to be related to a number of flu-like illnesses and student absences in the district.
According to a statement on the district’s website, the district states “We will use AMI days. Please refer to your AMI packets/instructions that were given out at Parent Teacher Conferences.”
AMI is an “Alternative Methods of Instruction,” which Act 862 of 2017 allows a public school district and open-enrollment public charter school to develop a plan for alternative methods of instruction to be used on days when the superintendent closes school due to exceptional or emergency circumstances.
The district’s website, however, also states that regularly scheduled athletic contests will played.
