Firefighters Save Home from Fire
Quick response by the resident and firefighters saved a house Saturday after a fire broke out just before noon.
According to resident Patsy White, she woke up to her smoke alarm going off in her home at the intersection of East 7th St. and Edgewood St. Mrs. White said the guest bedroom appeared to be on fire when she went to investigate. She was able to safely get out of the house and get help on its way.
The Hope Fire Department, Hope Police Department and Pafford EMS were dispatched to the fire and quickly arrived on scene. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control rapidly and turn their attention to clearing the smoke from the house and searching for any hot spots that would threaten to cause the fire to grow again and destroy the house. White was able to briefly reenter her home to assess the damage once firefighters cleared it.
A Hope Water and Light lineman was on-duty and in the vicinity when the call for the fire went out and was able to immediately respond to disconnect power to the house.
Hope Police investigated and documented the scene.
