Flora Mattie Harmon

Flora Mattie Harmon, 101, passed away July 28, 2021, in Hope, AR.

Flora was born January 21, 1920, to Sam and Cora Ross Hartsfield. She built ships in California during WWII and had the honor to cut a ship loose. After moving from California to Arkansas she went to college and became a teacher and taught in a few local schools.  She loved traveling the world and by fate she once was able to travel in the Concorde airplane. Flora was a truly remarkable woman. She loved riding horses with her two granddaughters, gardening, and sewing her own clothes.

Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Harmon, daughter-in-law, Peggy Cummins Harmon, seven brothers and seven sisters, Freda Lloyd, Fay Nehring, France Worthy, Falton Hartsfield, Finly Hartsfield, Frank Hartsfield, Fraunie Taylor, Fred Hartsfield, Foy Hartsfield, Flossie Sander, Floyd Hartsfield, Floy Mae Griffin, Forest Dale Hartsfield and Fernell Clover.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Dale Harmon, and Jerrold Lloyd Harmon (Amanda); two granddaughters, Debbie Marie Pippenger (Bill), Tammy Harmon Williams (Brad); three great grandsons, Billy Wayne Maness (Courtnie), Braden Joe Williams, and Bryce Von Williams; two great granddaughters, Heather Marie Pippenger and Holly Michell Pippenger; three great-great granddaughters, Olivia Nicoloe Maness, Brooklyn Sa’niyah Robinson, and Parker Rose Maness.

Visitation will be held 6:00pm-8:00pm Friday, July 30, 2021, at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Hope.

Graveside services will be at 11:00am Saturday, July 31, 2021, in Holly Grove Cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Bobo officiating, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Hope. We also invite you to express your public condolences at or private Letters of Love at
