Gladys M. Dansby

Gladys Marie Muldrew Dansby, 76, of Ashdown, Arkansas transitioned to the eternal love of God on Thursday, October Twenty-Fourth at 12:30am.

Born May 16, 1943 to the late Ira and Agnes Muldrew, Sr. of Emmet, AR.  She was the baby sister to the late Ira Muldrew and Bettye Muldrew-Hickman.

She joined Shady Grove A.M.E in Emmet, AR at an early age and joined United Christian Church of Emmet later in life, where she served faithfully until her health failed.

Gladys attended the Emmet Key School—graduating from Yerger Hope, Arkansas in 1960.

She completed seamstress school in 1962, which landed her the Head Tailor job with Shanhouse.

She also worked as a Head Cook at the Chuck Wagon.  This led to her lifelong passion to cook and care for others—including employment with Emmet School District, Lil Angels Day Care, Pine Crest Retirement Lodge, and her name sake catering business, Aunt G’s Kountry Kitchen.  She never met a stranger and nor would you ever leave her home hungry.

Gladys Muldrew married Doris Lee Dansby September 21, 1968.  She was a loving, devoted and caring wife for 51 years.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Doris Lee Dansby; daughters, Marcia Dansby-Austin (Kirby) and Kristi Rene’e Dansby; grandson, Tario (Tari) Dansby; granddaughter, Angela Austin; known as Aunt G to numerous nieces and nephews, the Tea Cake Lady to the community.  She leaves a host of family and lifelong close friends that became family over the years.  She graced many hearts with her presence and smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Christian Church Outreach Food Ministry—Emmet, AR Building Fund.

A service celebrating her life will be 1pm Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hicks Memorial Chapel, 407 South Hazel Street, Hope.  Burial will be at Snell Cemetery in Emmet.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
