Hempstead County 4-Hers compete, win awards in Texas
Hempstead County 4-H members, Sara Sweat, Anna Sweat, Kiersten Priddy, and Gatlin Priddy, traveled to Texas last week to compete in Livestock Judging and a Public Speaking Contest.
On Thursday March 28, all four members delivered speeches at the Winona FFA Agricultural Public Speaking contest near Tyler, Texas. Kiersten Priddy was the winner in the Jr Division and Anna Sweat Placed Second. The next two days they attended two livestock judging contests near College Station, bringing home Second place, out of 25 teams, at the Robertson County Contest, in the Intermediate Division.
They were also 1st place team winners in the Reasons Category. The kids spent time after the contest, touring the Texas A&M Beef Center and the George Bush Memorial Library. Congratulations to all four of these kids and thank you for representing Hempstead County so well.
