Hempstead County Fair hosts this week’s Community Coffee

Representatives and students from the Hempstead County Fair hosted the Chamber Community Coffee at the Hub this morning, and these proud kiddos got the chance to share with members of the community a preview of their contributions to the big event this week.

Twelve-year-old Huck Plyler, who is showing five heifers and one steer this week, said he was excited to be at the Coffee to share with others what they can find at the fair. “We want to get as many people as we can to come out to the fair,” Plyler said.

Sixteen-year-old Lane Lockhart, who is showing a heifer and a steer, said he was also excited to be at the Coffee today to talk to members of the community about the fair. “I think it’s going to be a good turnout,” Lockhart said.

Hempstead County Fair Board Treasurer, Mindy Lockhart, shared with SWARK.Today a schedule of events for the week (see below) and said today’s Community Coffee was a great opportunity for the kids. “This is a great way for the kids to connect with the community,” Lockhart said. “They have spent a lot of time, effort, and money on their projects, and hosting an event like this allows them to talk about all their hard work.”

The kids brought tasty treats for Coffee patrons and visited with participants about arts, crafts, livestock, and other activities that can be found at the fair this week, while also sharing stories about their own personal projects which will be on display. Arts and Crafts exhibits will be open this afternoon at 4pm and the Livestock Show will be tomorrow at 5pm. The schedule of events are as follows:
