March is Archeology Month in Arkansas. Arkansas has many archeological treasures that have been found over the years. Many of them are also located in Hempstead County. Come learn about a recent archeological find at the Trimble House and an upcoming dig of the Witter House at Historic Washington from Dr. Carl Drexler, Arkansas Archeological Survey Archeologist at Southern Arkansas University. The Hempstead County Historical Society will meet on Tuesday evening March 22, 2022 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm. Everyone is welcome. If you have some archeological items, such as arrowheads or other artifacts, bring them to the meeting for Dr. Drexler to identify.
The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
