Hogs Sweep

Razorback head baseball coach Dave Van Horn disagrees with a call by the umpire at their game against UIC Sunday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, AR.

FAYETTEVILLE – It took consecutive Saturday and Sunday grand slams by Greenbrier’s Cayden Wallace and a dramatic game-winning ninth-inning 2-run home run by Chris Lanzilli to achieve it, but Coach Dave Van Horn’s Razorbacks finally broke out the baseball series sweeping brooms Sunday at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Coupled with their 12-4 and 5-4 Thursday doubleheader sweep of the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames, and Saturday’s 10-1 romp after Friday’s snow day interruption, Lanzilli’’s 2-run ninth in Sunday’s ninth achieved a 10-8 victory completing the sweep.

The Hogs trailed 6-4 in the eighth until Wallace’s grand slam put them up, 8-6.

The fighting Flames tied it 8-8 in the ninth before winning reliever Mike Adamiak stopped the rally.

Graduate transfer via Kent State catcher Michael Turner doubled leading off Arkansas’ ninth before via Wake Forest transfer Lanzilli’s 2-run shot over the left field wall doused the flames.
