HPD/HCSO Spooktacular Delivers on Frightful Halloween Fun

Temperatures were cooler for Halloween night but it didn’t stop large crowds from turning out for the annual Spooktacular and Haunted House put on by the Hope Police Department and Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office.
Games, hot dogs and plenty of candy were available but the highlight of the Spooktacular was the Haunted House. Lines of costumed children and adults lined up down the street to enter the through the jail’s Sally Port before winding their way through into the Courthouse basement. The dark pathways held hidden horrors for the visitors, including Jason, Chucky, an escaped psychotic clown, a mad butcher and more.
The annual Halloween event was started several years ago to give families a family-safe alternative to going door-to-door trick-or-treating and has been well received, becoming a Halloween staple for the community.
