As usual, Christmas will be here quicker than most of us expect and officers with the Hope Police Department have made their list of children around Hope who they want to ensure have a Merry Christmas this year.
The yearly Santa Cop program helps families in the community to provide the Christmas for their children that everyone wants for their own child. Officers nominate families for the program that they think will best be served by the program based on their contacts in the community throughout the year. Donations are collected to purchase gifts for the families that are selected.
According to the Hope Police Department, with last year’s donations, they were able to supply presents and clothing to 17 children in 7 different families though the 2017 Santa Cop Program.
The HPD said they could not have helped all those families without the community’s help and they are counting on that same generosity and Christmas spirit again this year.
Donations for the 2018 Santa Cop Program are currently being accepted. The HPD asks that all donations are made by cash, check or money order. If you would like to make a donation, you can mail it in or drop it off at the Hope Police Department Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
