The opening meeting of the Hope Water and Light Commission early Wednesday morning was more notable for upcoming announcements, such as a swearing-in and selection of new officers in February, as the Commission faced a light agenda in a session lasting 26 minutes.
Vice Chair Lester Sitzes III chaired Wednesday’s session in the absence of regular Chairman Jerry Pruden, who was announced as out for healthcare reasons.
Dennis Ramsey, who was coming off a reappointment to the commission the next before by the Hope City Board of Directors, was seated, but was not formally sworn-in for his new five-year term.
Sitzes said that both Ramsey’s swearing in and selection of new officers for 2019 would be scheduled for the Commission’s February 20 meeting.
Prior to the meeting, it was announced that the HWL offices will be closed, per custom, on Monday, January 21, 2019 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Personnel will be available for water and electric emergencies at 870-777-3000. Customers may pay their utility bill via their smart device or through the locked drop box inside the front double doors. They may also mail their payments to P O Box 2020, Hope, AR 71802.
The Commission also released a tentative schedule for its meetings for the rest of 2019; subject to change, the designated dates include:
• February 20, 2019
• March 20, 2019
• April 17, 2019
• May 22, 2019

• August 21, 2019
• September 18, 2019
• October 16, 2019
• November 20, 2019

The Commission also noted that “Additional emergency meetings, such as a major project approval may need to be scheduled when needed.”
