By Otis Kirk

FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas Coach John Calipari signed Little Rock Christian Academy 5-star small forward JaShawn "JJ" Andrews on Wednesday the first day of the signing period.

Andrews, 6-6, is ranked as high as the No. 11 player in the country by 247Sports and No. 12 by ESPN. He chose the Razorbacks over a long list of schools offering scholarships. As a junior, Andrews averaged 28.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2 blocks per game. Andrews talked about the decision to attend Arkansas.

"Arkansas always makes me feel welcome," Andrews said. "They have talked to me about things I need to work and other things than basketball too."

Andrews father, Shawn, was an All-America offensive lineman for the Razorbacks from 2001-03 and then starred in the NFL. Shawn was All-Pro with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006 and twice played in the Pro Bowl

The younger Andrews led his team to a 24-8 record last season. He has been named all-state three years in a row. He led Little Rock Christian to state championships both as a freshman and sophomore. He was named the MVP of the state tournament in 2024 and named the top junior at the 2024 Nike Thanksgiving Hoopfest.

"That's the goal this year to win state," Andrews said.

Andrews is a two-time champion of the Peach Jam tournament in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). Earned EYBL MVP honors after the 2025 season, where he led team Bradley Beal Elite to a 75–55 win in the championship.

On Saturday, John Calipari and his staff will add the signature of West Haven (Conn.) Notre Dame 4-star wing Abdou Toure.
