FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas junior forward Adou Thiero has been drafted by the Brooklyn Nets with the No. 6 pick in Round 2 and No. 36-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft Thursday night. The Nets will trade Thiero to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Thiero, 6-8, 218, was the only Razorback drafted. In his only season at Arkansas, Thiero topped the Razorbacks in scoring averaging 15.1 points in 27 games. Thiero also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.7 block per game. He shot 54.5% from the field, 25.6 from beyond the arc and 68.6 at the free throw line. Thiero was elated to get picked by the Lakers.
"Feels good, you know, dream come true, you know, just happy to be here," Thiero said. "Playing for the Lakers, too, that's a blessing for sure."
In two seasons previously at Kentucky, Thiero didn't have near the success he had with Arkansas. In 2022-23 as a true freshman, Thiero played in 20 games averaging 9.7 minutes per outing. He averaged 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds. In 2023-24 with the Wildcats, Thiero played in 25 games averaging 21.3 minutes per game. Thiero averaged 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.7 steal each game. Thiero is a versatile player particularly on defense.
"Whatever Coach JJ [Redick] needs me to do, I'm ready to go out there and do it," Thiero said. "Just put me on the floor, I got you, Coach. I'm gonna go out there and do all the little things. Whatever needs to be done will be done."
Asked about the roster, Thiero laughed and said: “LeBron?! … It’s going to fun learning from everybody, but you got LeBron, Luka, AR … I’m just ready to get with the guys and work.”
Thiero is the only draft pick for the Lakers in this draft.
