May 30, 2025MAYNARD, Ark. — On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) following a homicide in the 2900 block of Pitman Road in Maynard.RCSO received a 911 call from the victim, Christopher Lee Borreson, 47, of Maynard, who stated that he had been shot. While still on the call, Borreson succumbed to his gunshot wounds.CID Special Agents arrested Joshua Kane Smith, 30, also of Maynard, in connection with Borreson's death. Smith was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he is facing charges of First-Degree Murder.The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
