Presented by Farmers Bank and Trust and Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes, the annual event once again drew a strong crowd from across the Hope and surrounding communities, all gathering for an evening of entertainment, fellowship and philanthropy.
From the moment guests entered the hall, the beach motif was nothing short of amazing. A mermaid anchored the center of the main food table, serving as a striking focal point amid an impressive spread. Balloon arches framed portions of the venue, while bamboo accents and baby’s breath softened the tropical elements. Overhead lighting cast a warm glow across a designated drink area, creating an inviting space for guests to gather and relax. In one corner, bold colored, light up bulbs with the letters ‘BBB’ stood as a popular photo op backdrop, drawing a steady line of attendees ready to capture the moment.
The centerpieces on each table looked as though they had been lifted straight from the bottom of the sea, adding to the immersive atmosphere that carried throughout the evening.
Entertainment added another layer of excitement. Performers from Arkansas Circus Arts, reminiscent of a Cirque du Soleil-style showcase, were stationed throughout the venue captivating the crowd. A jellyfish floated high above the center of the venue, while a mermaid performed overhead in the far right corner. A hooper with illuminated hula hoops dazzled guests with carefully choreographed routines that blended artistry and athleticism. Their presence brought an element of wonder that perfectly complemented the coastal theme.
Guests arrived in festive beach attire and enjoyed luau-inspired snacks and signature drinks including The Sunburn and Bay Breeze. The silent auction and gun raffle generated steady participation, and DJ Stanley kept the dance floor lively as the evening progressed.
The BBB Committee also sold raffle tickets for a VAHAN 14K gold and sterling silver diamond stackable bracelet valued at $1,825, donated by Alexander’s Jewelers. The raffle created plenty of buzz as supporters eagerly contributed for a chance to take home the stunning piece.
Interactive experiences were scattered throughout the hall, including the BBB Committee Tiki Hut, permanent jewelry by Casey’s Permanent Jewelry, hat and purse burning with Hammer and Stain of Hot Springs, hair wrapping and braiding by Jennifer Tyree and professional photography by Heather Clements.
UAHT Foundation Director Kelly Wilcox referred to the success of the evening, saying, “Beads, Bags and Bangles continues to show just how deeply this community believes in our students. The creativity, the energy and the generosity in this room were incredible. Every ticket purchased, every auction bid and every sponsorship directly supports Kids’ College and Camp Save-A-Life. It is humbling to see so many people come together to invest in opportunities that help shape the futures of young people across our region. I want to thank every single sponsor that made a commitment to help the kids in this community, your never-ending support is vital so again thank you.”
While the décor and entertainment created a night to remember, the purpose behind the celebration remained at the forefront. Funds raised through Beads, Bags and Bangles support quality Kids’ College programs, that inspire young minds. Proceeds also help provide meaningful opportunities for middle school students in grades six through eight through Camp Save-A-Life and the Engineering and Manufacturing Camp of Creativity, where students gain hands-on experience in skills ranging from CPR training to robotics.
As the music faded and the decorations were packed away, the true impact of the evening extended far beyond the tropical atmosphere. The success of Beads, Bags and Bangles will be felt this summer when students walk through the doors of Kids’ College, ready to learn, explore and imagine what their futures might hold. It was a night to remember.
