Blue Jays Get 65-40 Win in Junction City Thursday Night

Blue Jays Get 65-40 Win in Junction City Thursday Night
Junction City- In Coach Bell's return to his alma mater Junction City, the very talented Blue Jays made sure he left there with a win. Nevada cranked up the volume in the 2nd half and pulled away from the Dragons to secure the 65-40 win, in large part to a great defensive performance. The defense was flying around all game, limiting Junction City's offense to hardly any good looks. "Best defense we've played all year, the guys came out and worked their butts off and really proud of my guys," Coach Bell said after the win on Thursday night.

The first quarter was a low scoring affair, as the Jays were clinging to a 8-7 lead. The second quarter was another back and forth quarter, as Nevada outscored the Dragons 12-10 to take a 20-17 lead into halftime. The Jays came out after halftime and put their foot on the gas, as they outscored Junction City 29-8 in the 3rd quarter to pull away behind some great defense and hot shooting from beyond the arc, as Nevada nailed five 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter. The Blue Jays would outscore the Dragons 16-15 in the final quarter to bring the final score to 65-40. After the game, Josie Carlton caught up with Brogan Rhodes of the Blue Jays who had this to say on the win, "It feels good to get a big win on the road against a bigger school, we took charges, boxed out, got rebounds just an all out effort tonight, real big team effort."

The Blue Jays were led offensively by Kavion Coleman, who torched the nets for 23 points including a couple of 3-pointers. Keyonte Wingfield poured in 11 points, as he did a great job getting to the free throw line Thursday night. Justin Myrick knocked down three 3-pointers as he continues to display some great shooting as he finished with 9 points. Kobe Hughey had 7 points, Brogan Rhodes finished with 6 points, Caleb Moss had 5, and Monti Mixon had 4 points.

The Blue Jays are back in action Friday night as they travel to Umpire in a conference matchup with the Wildcats.
