In OT, it did not take Hope long to find the endzone. On the first play from scrimmage in OT, QB Trey Hoglund found Jaiden Brown for what would be the game-winning TD on a great throw through a tight window. Brown did a great job catching the ball with a lot of traffic around him. The defense would make another stand when they needed to the most, as this defense grew a lot on Friday night. To quote Coach Rickey Rhodes on the SWARK.Today broadcast during the game, "This is what can happen when you play inspired football." And this Bobcat team played there best all-around game in the past couple of seasons.
The Bobcats offense played great on Friday, as the line did their jobs, giving both QBs Trey Hoglund and Austin Courtney both enough time to make plays. Courtney and Hoglund both made big time throws throughout the game. Hoglund finished the night with 113 yards and 3 TDs. Courtney completed 6 passes for 91 yards and a TD.
Jaiden Brown followed up his 2 TD game against Nashville, with a 3 TD performance against the Panthers on Friday night to bring his season total to 5 touchdowns in just two weeks. Brown finished the game with 5 catches for 79 yards and 3 TDs. Devante Jones made a house call on a 65-yard TD catch, as he showed off his speed, as no one would catch him. Deonte Williams had a pair of catches for 34 yards.
Coach Clark's defensive unit showed flashes of their potential and how much they've grown this week, making numerous plays, forcing fumbles, and an INT. Xavier Fields was all over the field and lived in the Panthers backfield Friday night, as he recorded a sack, forced a fumble, and had 9 tackles. Joel Bello followed up his 7 tackle performance last week with a 10-tackle performance this week. JJ Gulley also had 10 tackles, forced a fumble, and had a sack. Brayden Messer had 5 tackles. Braylin Smith had 3 tackles and a big INT, as he continues to show how good he can be for the defense.
Great win for Coach Turner's Bobcats, as they will look to build on this W and take some momentum into next weeks showdown with Prescott. It will be the Bobcats home-opener with kickoff at 7pm.
