With guitar and guitar chops, Christian contemporary artist Covie, whose name is a diminutive for Covenant, he said, played and sang to a respectably-sized crowd at The Hub Thursday evening in the first concert of Summer Sounds Downtown. He played many 70s soul covers but augmented those with several originals that did him great credit.
Covie engaged with the crowd by telling many stories, sharing a laugh or three and using a burnished and buoyant voice to tremendous effect with a seeming ease on Bill Withers classics as well as many R & B songs by the best legends.
