Genoa Central played another clean game defensively behind some excellent pitching from Wells and Sullivan Wallace. Wells has been nothing short of spectacular this season and Wallace has been very good in his sophomore season. Wells finished the game tossing 5 innings of no-hit ball, walking four and striking out 8 batters. Wallace scattered 2 hits in 2 innings of work, striking out two batters.
The Dragons pushed across a run in each of the first four innings and blew the game open in the 5th inning, putting up a 3-spot to take a 7-0 lead after 5 innings. The offense banged out 12 hits and drew a pair of walks, as well as a HBP. Cameron Bush led the way with a double, two singles, a walk, and an RBI, as he reached base safely in all four plate appearances. Braxton Robertson went 2-3 with a double, single, and was hit by a pitch. Nate Thomas had a 2-hit game as well and was great behind the plate. Nick Wells and Sullivan Wallace each had doubles. Hayden Teer had a hit and 2 RBI, Will Spears and Brayden Cobb each had a single.
The Dragons improved to 2-0 in conference play and will face Centerpoint on Tuesday looking for a 3-0 start in conference play.
