Gomez and Fortlage Voted All-SEC

FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback sophomores Gerardo Gomez and Erich Fortlage were voted second team All-SEC by the league’s coaches.

They are the 27th and 28th Razorbacks to earn and a total of 45 All-SEC honors. The duo is the 13 and 14th players to earn All-SEC in the 20-year Brad McMakin era, which has produced a total of 23 honors.

Gomez and Fortlage share the team lead in scoring average at 70.67, which is currently tied for fourth on the school’s single-season list. Ironically, the two had the same scoring average last year as well, at 72.63. They have helped Arkansas to a historically best season as the Razorbacks earned their first NCAA #1 seed at a Regional and have a team scoring average of 280.27, which is nearly three strokes better than the current program record of 22.97 in 2023-24.

Gomez:

• ranks 12th among SEC players and 35th nationally.

• jumped from 137 in the NCAA rankings in late February to his current rank of 28.

• has a team-best four top-5 finishes.

• has a team-best 12 rounds in the 60’s (of his 27 rounds played).

• enters this NCAA postseason with a streak of 9-straight rounds below par (67-69-64-68-71-71-69-69-68).

• tied for the team lead (with Fortlage) by being the team’s low man for a round 10 times and being the low man for a tournament four times.

Fortlage:

• ranks 16th among SEC players and 28th nationally.

• was 190th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings to start the 2025-26 season and now ranks 80th.

• has a team-best five top-5 finishes and a team-best seven top-20 finishes.

• has a team-best 23 rounds at par or better (of his 30 rounds played). The Arkansas single-season record for most rounds at par or better in a season is 24, held by Jacob Skov Olesen (2023-24) and Craig Lile (199-00).
