Hamilton Haven Donates Books to Local Schools
PRESCOTT — Blevins, Nevada, and Prescott elementary students recently received a gift as the school year is nearing its end.

Hamilton Haven, a Prescott nonprofit which provides emergency, short-term housing to temporarily displaced families and individuals, provided books to more than 110 elementary students in the three schools on May 12 and May 13.

“We were able to purchase ‘Ready-To-Read’ books for the students,” said Hamilton Haven administrative assistant Leslie Hughes, who organized the effort. “A special thank you to all who donated. We want to encourage education through reading.”

Dr. Kimberly Turner is the principal of the Blevins schools. Tonda Pennington serves as Nevada Elementary principal. Kimberly Grimes is the principal of Prescott Elementary.

Hamilton Haven executive director Michele Hamilton Rhodes, whose parents were educators in the Prescott schools, expressed her happiness with this project.

“It’s a blessing for our team to invest in our community. It’s exciting and intriguing to see young people expand their knowledge,” she said.

Hamilton Haven public affairs coordinator Nathan Tidwell noted that this project began with Prescott Elementary in 2023, and that Randy Hughes Elementary in Blevins and Nevada Elementary were added in 2024.
