Little Rock, Arkansas — Sylvia C. Brown of Fulton and Jair Arroyo of Hope were among 321 Arkansans gathered in Little Rock at the 2026 Arkansas Democratic State Convention, an annual gathering focused on strengthening the party, building grassroots leadership, and preparing for the upcoming election cycle. Other Hempstead County Democratic delegates were Dr. Linda Clark, Kristaryon Easter and Janice Milus. They were unable to attend.
Seventy-two percent of Arkansas counties sent representatives to the Convention, totaling 54 counties. Jannie Cotton, Democratic Party of Arkansas Vice Chair and 2026 State Convention Arrangements Chair, said, “We’ve been working for months to put together a convention weekend that Arkansas Democrats will be proud of.” This year's convention featured keynote remarks from Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, whose leadership has helped shape national conversations around voter engagement, economic opportunity, and expanding Democratic participation.
Elected officials, party leaders, candidates, delegates, activists, and community organizers from every region of Arkansas ratified the 2026 Democratic party nominees and adopted the Democratic Party of Arkansas’ 2026-2028 Platform.
