Chamber members and local residents gathered to visit, network, and enjoy refreshments while catching up on community news and the winter weather coming in. The relaxed atmosphere allowed attendees to connect with one another and learn more about one of the area’s long-standing businesses and its role in Southwest Arkansas.
During the coffee, Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes recognized its newest team member, Afton Dew, who recently joined the organization as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Dew grew up around the funeral service profession at Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark, Arkansas, and brings both experience and compassion to her work. She is also active in the community and serves as a Chamber Ambassador.
“I’ve grown up seeing the importance of compassion and care during some of the hardest moments families face,” Dew said. “I’m truly honored to walk alongside families and help them feel supported, respected, and cared for during their time of need.”
Amy Helmick, General Manager and Funeral Director for Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes, shared her appreciation for the opportunity to host the Community Coffee.
“Being able to bring people together like this is what makes our community so special,” Helmick said. “At Herndon-Fuqua, serving others goes beyond our day-to-day work. It’s about building relationships, supporting one another, and being present for our community in every season of life.”
Executive Director of the Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Christy Burns thanked Herndon-Fuqua for hosting and highlighted the importance of Community Coffees.
“These events give our members a chance to connect, strengthen relationships, and learn more about the businesses that serve our area,” Burns said. “We’re grateful to Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes for welcoming everyone this morning.”
Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes serves families across Southwest Arkansas with locations in Hope, Prescott, and Gurdon. With a dedicated staff and a wide range of services, the organization continues its commitment to compassionate care throughout the region.
The morning concluded with continued fellowship and conversation, making it a great day to gather for a Chamber Community Coffee.
