FAYETTEVILLE -- Prior to the NCAA allowing an early signing period the first Wednesday in February was like a late Christmas present for coaches and recruiting fans.
The traditional National Signing Day is always the first Wednesday in February. But for Power 4 teams it has dwindled down to not much of an event. For instance, Arkansas is expected to sign at least two prospects today. Fayetteville quarterback Hank Hendrix, 6-3, 175, and Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College defensive lineman Antonio Sandel-Bascomb, 6-3, 305, are expected to sign and enroll at Arkansas in the summer.
Hendrix was rated a four-star quarterback in the Class of 2027, but reclassified to 2026. He immediately committed to the Razorbacks. His father, Che, is on the staff at Arkansas. He was formerly the head coach at Boerne (Texas) High School. Che is a senior defensive analyst on Ryan Silverfield's staff and coached safeties for Bobby Petrino the final seven games of 2025.
In his lone season at Fayetteville High School, Hendrix completed 232 of 368 passes for 3.573 yards and 32 touchdowns. That followed up an outstanding sophomore year at Boerne.
Sandel-Bascomb has said he will play defensive tackle and nose guard for the Razorbacks. In eight games this season, Sandel-Bascomb had 29 tackles, 10 solo, eight for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Arkansas and West Virginia are among the teams that could possibly add Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College edge J'Lynn Allen, 6-7, 240. Allen formerly played at North Little Rock High School. This past season he had 31 tackles, 21 solo, 10 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. Allen was set to visit Arkansas this past weekend, but hasn't done any interviews since.
The Razorbacks have a commitment from Temple offensive lineman Lucas Possenti, 6-6, 300. He will be a preferred walk-on addition and enroll in the summer as well.
Sacred Heart offensive lineman Emmanuel Flor, 6-4, 295, also plans to be a preferred walk-on with the Razorbacks. The former Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman will have four years remaining at Arkansas.
Others could come into light beginning today who plan to arrive in late May or early June. Arkansas now has 19 high school prospects, three junior college signees and 41 additions from the transfer portal.
