Hope Tourism discusses upcoming A Taste of Hope event
The Hope Advertising & Tourist Promotion Commission met for the September meeting in the Hope City Boardroom last night and discussed the upcoming downtown event from Hope Downtown Network (HDN). Beckie Moore, Executive Director of HDN, addressed the commission to discuss A Taste of Hope which will be on October 4th. Moore shared with them the highlights of the event and asked if they would again be a sponsor this year. She said after listening to feedback from the first few years, HDN has decided that this year the event will be moved to Main Street and will start at 6pm instead. She said there will also be games, a movie, and many more activities taking place, as well as the community vote for which project will be completed for the downtown area. Commissioners voted and approved a $2000 sponsorship. More info about A Taste of Hope can be found at the HDN Facebook Page.

In other business, Parks Director/Tourism Secretary Summer Chambers shared a proposal from Ephesus Sports Lighting for some of the ball fields. She said she and Seth Zimmer with Hope Water and Light met with representatives from Ephesus to discuss replacing metal halide lights at K-Park and their proposal is in the amount of $215,000-$220,000 for materials and an additional turnkey installation in the amount of $105,000-$110,000. This includes Lady Cat Softball Field, Hawthorne T-Ball Field, and Jack Williams Memorial Field. Chambers said this was not something that needed a decision right now, but something she was sharing for future discussions, particularly when deciding next year’s budget. Plus, she said she was going to reach out to another company for a proposal as well.

Chambers also shared other updates with the commissioners. She said that businesses can now pay their A&P taxes online, the link for which is on the city website (hopearkansas.net) under the quick links. She also said that the Veteran's Memorial Committee is scheduled to meet this Thursday.

Chambers, along with EDC Director Anna Powell, shared that Viewpoint will be airing the Hope segments tomorrow night 10:30 Eastern time on Fox news network.
