Parks Director/Tourism Secretary Summer Chambers said City of Hope Staff along with City Engineer Jeremy Stone opened bids on July 30. The following three bids were received: Oliver's Custom Roofing - $52,905, Terra Firma Restoration - $115,100, Barton Roofing- $120,800. Chambers said Stone recommended accepting the low bid from Oliver Roofing. Commissioner Trevor Coffee commented he had seen reviews on this company and that they had good reviews.
Then the commission briefly discussed the percentage of roof repaired, the aesthetics when completed, and the difference in the bid prices. The commission voted on and approved the Oliver Roofing bid.
Chambers presented three logos for the commission’s consideration. In a previous meeting, she shared that SWARK.Today had been tasked with designing a tourism logo for social media and marketing, and SWARK.Today had now presented these three styles for them to choose from. The commission discussed their favorite choices and made a selection which is shown below, voting to make it official.

Chambers asked the commissioners to make recommendations for members to be placed on a Veterans’ Memorial Committee. Mark Ross, Donna Rosenbaum, Jerry Crane, David Lively, and Larry Appel were the names mentioned. Chambers said she would set up a meeting.
In other business, Chambers said the Watermelon Festival was great and attendance was way up. She said 114 teams participated in the tournaments and that positive feedback was given for the whole festival. The only issues she said were injuries during softball because of light issues at Kiwanis Field. Chambers said she is working on proposals for the ball field lights. She also updated the commission on Amtrak platform repairs, saying that the contractor will be able to start soon.
