Lady Dragons Earn 5-4 Road Win Over Horatio on Monday Night
Horatio- The Lady Dragons (5-1) hit the road on Monday night as they headed to Horatio for a non-conference matchup against the Lady Lions. The Lady Dragons put themselves in a 2-0 hole after the they surrendered a 2-spot in the 1st inning, but slowly dug themselves out of that hole tying the game up in the 5th inning and scoring 3 runs in the 6th inning to take a 5-2 lead into the seventh. Emily McGuire got the job done in the pitchers’ circle and collected the win, as the Lady Dragons hung on late to earn an impressive 5-4 win on the road.  

Rylee Fike started the game in the pitchers’ circle for the Lady Dragons, and did a great job as she allowed just 1 ER on 3 hits through three innings of work. Emily McGuire came in relief and picked up the win and striking out one batter.

Kenzie Owen stepped up to the plate and smacked a solo homerun for the Lady Dragons. Ady Clement had herself a 2-hit night at the plate. Ali Pierce roped a double and Kelsie Fowler had a single and an RBI. Rylee Fike finished the game with a single and Anna McCrary added an RBI. The Lady Dragons ran the bases well on Monday night, as they combined for 5 stolen bases. Kenzie Burris swiped 2 bags, with Kelsie Fowler, Ady Clement, and Macey Williams finished the ngiht with 1 stolen base each.

With the win, the Lady Dragons improved to 5-1 on the young season, as they are looking like a team that will contend for a conference title and make a long postseason run. Genoa Central is back in action on Tuesday night in Murfreesboro. 

In the JV game, Genoa Central earned a 7-3 win over Horatio. Macey Williams finished the game with a triple and an RBI. Kenzie Burris earned the win in the circle, as she struck out 3 batters.
