Emily McGuire got the nod from Coach Sanders in the pitchers’ circle and allowed just 2 hits while striking out 5 batters. The defense was solid, as they fielded 10 of the 15 outs.
At the plate, the Lady Dragons showed some patience, working 8 walks and getting hit by a pair of pitches, on top of banging out 7 hits. Every Lady Dragon scored at least once in this victory on Tuesday night. Jessyca Thompson led the way with a pair of singles and drove in a run. Brooklyn Cox smashed a double and finished the game with 3 RBI. Rylee Fike, Anna McCrary, Kenzie Owen, and Emily McGuire each had a hit. McGuire, McCrary, and Macey Williams each had an RBI. Brenley Ward reached base safely 3 times and Kelsie Fowler drew a pair of walks.
In the JV game, the Lady Dragons scored 3 runs in the 4th inning to win the game 4-3. Brooklyn Cox smashed an inside-the-park HR and drove in a pair of runs. Rylee Fike got the start and struck out 7 batters. Then entered Brenley Ward in a relief pitching performance where she turned into prime Mariano Rivera, tossing 2 innings of no-hit ball to earn the win.
Genoa Central is back in action on Friday as they head to Ashdown for their third conference game of the week.
