Genoa Central had a big first quarter from Kinsley Hollensworth, who scored 11 of her 12 points in the opening quarter, helping the Lady Dragons get out to an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter. The Lady Bears would fight to stick around, but the early lead from the Lady Dragons would stand too much to overcome, as Genoa Central won the game 40-33.
Hollensworth and Kenzie Owen each scored 12 points for the Lady Dragons to lead the team in scoring. Owen added 8 big rebounds and Kinsley dished out 5 assists. Brooklyn Cox scored 4 points, both Rylee Fike and Emily McGuire each scored 3, and Lily Armstrong, Macey Williams, and Chrissie Ellis each scored 2.
For Spring Hill, Ava McBrayer led the way with 12 points. Layla Cantwell and Knightley Porter each scored 6 points. Laney Flowers added 4, Zoey Varner scored 3, and Anna Flowers scored 2.
In the Jr. Girls game, Genoa Central topped the Jr. Lady Bears in a really good opening game 32-17. Asia Hankins and Presley Rogers led the Jr. Lady Dragons with 10 points each. For Spring Hill, LK Tuttle and Lilly Cox each scored 5.
Genoa Central is back on the court Friday in Ashdown for a big conference game. Spring Hill is back in action after Christmas in the Lafayette County Tourney.
