New picnic pavilion for Prairie D’Ane Battlefield

Prescott, Arkansas - The Nevada County Depot Museum announced construction on a new
picnic pavilion has begun at historic Prairie D’Ane Battlefield. When complete, the pavilion will
provide a covered space for travelers and community members alike. Construction of the
pavilion is the latest improvement made to Prairie D’Ane Battlefield over the past year and
provides yet another amenity for public use of the site.

Prairie D’Ane Battlefield, located at 2243 Highway 19 N. in Prescott, Arkansas, was the site of
three day engagement between Federal and Confederate forces in April 1864. Evidence of the
battle is still visible at the site and many artifacts recovered from the battle are on display at the
Nevada County Depot Museum. The battlefield is accessible seven days a week while the
Depot Museum is open Thursdays - Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
