Prescott was awash in holiday colors, music and Little Debbie Tree-Eating Thursday night
It looked a lot like Christmas in Prescott last night, with a long parade of Christmas-themed floats and decorated vehicles coursing through downtown and then a Christmas on the Square event on the Nevada County Courthouse lawn that featured choirs, a performance by the Prescott High band and a Little Debbie Christmas Tree pastry eating contest.

The parade exceeded half an hour of vividly colored delight.  Christmas on the Square included music, free servings of hot chocolate or, if you prefer, Grinch juice punch and a crowd alive with the spirit of music and the winter holidays.

As host of Christmas on the Square, Hank Crane read out the winners of the parade categories. Marching Group: Cub Scouts of Nevada County.  Four-wheeler: 67 Gas & Grill.  Animal: Chase Dice and Dalton Stockton who rode horses.  Cars and Trucks: M&M Power Wagon. Nine Feet and Up Float: First Central Baptist Church Bridge Kids and second Park Baptist Church.

The winner of the Christmas Tree-Eating Contest was Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver, who bested his competition by putting away nine, winning a steak dinner from Ko-Fields.

Future holiday events in Prescott include a Civic Coalition Christmas Auction December 12th and 13th at the Courthouse starting at 6:00 p.m; Community Feed at Curry’s Outreach Ministry Saturday December 13th at 6:00 p.m. and a Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Christmas at the Chamber on Thursday December 18th at 9:30 a.m.
