Rainbow of Challenges (ROC) welcomed community members, business leaders, and local officials to their Main Street location this morning as it hosted the Chamber Community Coffee.
Decorated with festive Fourth of July touches, the gathering gave guests an opportunity to connect while enjoying a variety of sweet and savory refreshments. The buffet featured sausage balls, sliders, pigs in a blanket, chips, dips, cakes, cupcakes, dessert cups, and other favorites as attendees visited with one another and learned more about the organization’s mission.
Scott Jester of Rainbow of Challenges said the organization intentionally hosts its annual Community Coffee during the summer while many of its clients are participating in seasonal programming.
“Each year we host a Community Coffee here at our Main Street location because it falls right in the middle of our summer program,” Jester said. “The timing couldn’t be better. It gives us an opportunity to bring the community together with our staff and many of our clients. We’ve had a great turnout, great food, and wonderful fellowship. Community Coffees are such an important way for people to learn more about what Rainbow of Challenges does and the individuals we serve,” Jester said.
Throughout the morning, guests mingled, caught up on community news, and enjoyed the patriotic atmosphere while visiting with Rainbow of Challenges staff.
Christy Burns, Executive Director of the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, thanked Rainbow of Challenges for its hospitality and continued investment in the community.
“Rainbow of Challenges continues to make a meaningful impact through the services they provide, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to gather here, build relationships, and celebrate the work they’re doing every day,” Burns said.
Rainbow of Challenges serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a variety of programs designed to promote independence, inclusion, and meaningful opportunities within the communities they call home.
