Razorbacks, alums combine for slew of career best marks in Arkansas Twilight

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas Twilight featured a meet record high jump win by Heidi Hudson along with four victories and a pair of meet records by Razorback alums.

Hudson equaled her outdoor best in the high jump with a 5-11.5 (1.82) victory. She now equals Taliyah Brooks at No. 5 on the UA all-time list. Savannah Byers placed third with a 5-5.25 (1.66) clearance.

The previous meet record of 5-10.75 (1.80) was shared by Morgan Whitson (unat) and Toni Young of Oklahoma State.

Brooks won the 100m hurdles in 12.92 (+0.0 wind) as career best times were established by Razorbacks Simone Ballard, 13.09, and Gabriella Cunningham, 13.30, as they finished second and third.

Arkansas alums Shafiqua Maloney and Rosey Effiong went 1-2 in the 400m with times of 50.85 and 51.27. Razorback Makenna Herbst placed fourth in a career best of 53.65.

Maloney was just a tenth of second off the 50.75 meet record she established in 2024.

Ainsley Erzen registered an outdoor best of 2:03.80 for third place in the 800m and now ranks equal No. 9 on the UA all-time list. Honour Finley won the race in 2:03.39 while Kaylie Politza of Oklahoma State finished second in 2:03.50.

Effiong later broke the meet record in the 200m with a 22.85 performance that bettered the previous meet record of 22.93 set in 2022 by Akeyla Mitchell. Alum Nickisha Pryce ran 22.94 as runner-up while Arkansas sisters Amirah Sharpe [23.495] and Arianna Sharpe [23.496] both clocked 23.50 in placing third and fourth.

Razorback Ryan Jennings won the 100m in 11.51 (+1.4 wind).

Alums finished 1-2 in the 1,500m as Sydney Vaught set a PR of 4:12.32 in breaking the meet record of 4:14.79 set by Logan Jolly in 2024. Jolly finished second with a 4:16.62 while Razorback Madeleine Gear finished third with a career best of 4:17.76. Vaught bettered her previous best of 4:15.33 set in 2024.
