Razorbacks Earn Top Seed to NCAA Corvallis Regional

FAYETTEVILLE – For the first time in program history, the Arkansas men’s golf program will be a #1 seed at an NCAA Regional, it was announced today by the NCAA on GOLF Channel. The sixth-ranked Razorbacks will play in the 13-team NCAA Corvallis Regional, hosted by Oregon State and the Trysting Tree Golf Club, May 18-20.

Arkansas is playing in its 18th straight NCAA Regional. In the 37 NCAA Regionals contested since its inception in 1989, the Razorbacks have now been represented at 36, 32 times as a team and four times with an individual.

The 13-team Corvallis Regional field has four of the nation’s top 20 teams, including top-seeded Arkansas (#6), second-seeded Texas Tech (#7), third-seeded Oklahoma (#17) and fourth-seed Charlotte (#19). Rounding out the field – in order of seeding – are UCLA (#30), Notre Dame (#31), San Diego (#42), Purdue (#43), Georgia Southern (#56), Oregon State (#60), Liberty (#80), Xavier (#93) and Sacramento State (#151). The Corvallis Regional will additionally have 10 individuals.

Arkansas has only played three of the 13 Corvallis Regional teams during the season, facing #2 seed Texas Tech three times (1-2-0, #3 seed Oklahoma three times (1-1-1) and #14 seed Xavier (1-0-0). Xavier is 1 f 5 teams in the Regional that won its conference tournament and is joined by Charlotte (American Athletic), UCLA (Big Ten), Liberty (Conference USA and Sacramento State (Big Sky).

Overall, the SEC landed four of the six #1 seeds got 15 of its 16 teams in the NCAA field. The #1 seeds from the SEC include overall top-seed Auburn, #2 overall seed Florida, #4 overall seed Texas and #6 overall seed Arkansas.
